In one sentence

In 3 months, turn your research question into a complete systematic review (PRISMA) article (e.g., introduction, methodology, results, discussion) ready to submit to your supervisor or to a journal.

No fieldwork required

That is what sets this methodology apart: your material is the published literature. No survey to distribute, no sample to build, no waiting. You are working from the first week.

Who is it for?

PhD candidates in economics, management and business administration (e.g., finance, marketing, management, human resources). A systematic review works alongside a quantitative or a qualitative thesis: it is a methodology in its own right, not a replacement for your fieldwork.

What you produce: it is YOUR work

I coach you: you write your own paper. I do not write it for you. I guide you, step by step, so that you do it, and do it well. Proven method.

Format

  • 6 live sessions (Google Meet)

  • 6 office hours

  • 4 rounds of detailed written feedback on YOUR work

  • All sessions recorded, 6-month access

  • Templates, resources and a certificate of completion

  • Cohort of 5 to 15 seats, by selection

What it covers

  1. 1

    Research question & search query

    • – Understand what a systematic review is, and what it is not
    • – Frame a research question suited to a literature synthesis
    • – Build and calibrate your search query: keywords, boolean operators, truncation
    • – Choose your model article and use it as your reference

📄 Research Question & Search StrategyThis session introduces systematic reviews and the PRISMA protocol. It shows how to frame a strong research question, choose a model article and turn the question into a reproducible Scopus search string.
  2. 2

    PRISMA methodology

    • – Inclusion and exclusion criteria: defining and justifying them
    • – Choosing your databases: Scopus, Web of Science, alternatives
    • – The PRISMA flow diagram: what it has to show
    • – Extracting and cleaning your reference CSV
    • – Writing the methodology section

  3. 3

    First screening & AI tools

    • – Title and abstract screening: method and working pace
    • – Using AI tools without losing traceability
    • – Documenting every exclusion for the flow diagram
    • – The most common mistakes, and how to avoid them

    • – Building your data extraction grid
    • – Coding the retained articles consistently

Your commitment

I acknowledge that this program is a guided accompagnement that requires effort on my part: attending the live sessions and delivering my work on time. I commit to actively attending the scheduled live sessions. Doctoral Compass is in no way obliged to do the work on my behalf, is not responsible for my results, and is not required to refund amounts paid if I disengage. I also understand that materials and recordings remain available for 6 months after the cohort ends, after which they are removed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to collect field data?

No, and that is the main reason to choose this methodology. Your material is the published literature. No survey to distribute, no sample to build, no months of waiting: you are producing from the first week.

My thesis is quantitative. Does a systematic review fit?

Yes. A systematic review is a methodology in its own right, and it sits alongside a quantitative or a qualitative thesis. Many PhD candidates make it their first published article and then their literature review chapter, the work pays off twice.

Do I need to have a research question already?

No. Session 1 is devoted to framing it and turning it into a search query. You do need to arrive with a thesis topic and a model article that inspires you.

Do I need paid access to Scopus or Web of Science?

Yes: you need access to a database such as Scopus or Web of Science, and most universities provide it. If you don't have it, tell me when you register, we will help you extract your references from them. Nobody is turned away from the programme for this reason.

How many articles will I have to screen?

It depends entirely on your query, which is exactly why we calibrate it together in session 1: a well-built query gives you a volume you can handle in three months, a badly built one gives you times too much.

Can I use AI for the screening?

Yes, with rules. AI speeds up the screening; it does not decide for you, and it does not excuse you from documenting every exclusion. Session 3 covers the tools and, above all, how to use them without weakening your methodology.

Do you write the paper for me?

No, and that is deliberate. I coach you so that you write it yourself. If you are looking for someone to write it for you, this is not the right programme, and it is a path I would strongly advise against for your academic career.

Is there a certificate?

Yes. A certificate of completion is sent automatically on the cohort's closing day to everyone who is up to date with their payments. It states the number of hours and the cohort dates.
